Nationwide Protest Against the Waqf Amendment Act Continues
Prakash Kunj : Jaipur. The protest against the recently introduced Waqf Amendment Act is continuing across the country. Prominent Muslim organizations like the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind are leading this movement. A joint national campaign titled “Save Waqf, Save Constitution” is being conducted across the country.
As part of this campaign, a press conference was held on Thursday at Grand Indiana Restaurant in Jaipur. Key participants included Maulana Fazlurrahim Mujaddidi, General Secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board; Dr. Qasim Rasool Ilyas, Coordinator of the “Save Waqf, Save Constitution” campaign; Muhammad Nazimuddin, State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind; Hafiz Manzoor Ali Khan, State Vice President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind; Dr. Shahabuddin, State Vice President of SDPI; and several other office bearers.
During the event, Maulana Fazlurrahim Mujaddidi stated that governments must be just and fair, as injustice and oppression cannot sustain for long. He cited several historical examples from the Mughal era, British colonial rule, and present-day governments to highlight the issue. Maulana Mujaddidi said, “A government that does not stand for justice cannot sustain for long. Such a government is bound to come to an end.”
Waqf Amendment Act is Discriminatory – Dr. Qasim Rasool
Dr. Qasim Rasool Ilyas remarked that all previous Waqf amendments were preceded by community consultations, but the current central government completely ignored the community on this matter. He said, “The recent amendments to the Waqf Act, passed unilaterally by the central government, are discriminatory and unconstitutional. They undermine the fundamental rights provided under Articles 14, 15, 25, 26, and 29 of the Indian Constitution and are part of a deliberate attempt to seize and destroy Muslim Waqf properties.”
Establishment of Waqf Ummeed Portal is Unlawful
Dr. Qasim Rasool, National Spokesperson of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, called the establishment of the Waqf Ummeed Portal unconstitutional and a contempt of court. He stated that the matter is currently sub judice in the Supreme Court, yet the government launched the portal on 6th June, making registration of Waqf properties mandatory. He emphasized that this move is entirely illegal and a direct violation of the court’s authority.
He added that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has challenged these amendments in the Supreme Court, and under the banner of “Save Waqf, Save Constitution”, they are launching a peaceful, nationwide public campaign.
